Oximonam exhibits varying degrees of antibacterial activity in agar dilution MIC testing against clinically isolated Enterobacteriaceae and H. influenzae; the MIC₉₀ values for E. coli, Shigella spp., Citrobacter freundii, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, K. oxytoca, Enterobacter spp., Serratia marcescens, Proteus mirabilis, P. vulgaris, Morganella morganii, Yersinia enterocolitica, and H. influenzae are 0.25, 0.5, 8, 0.5, 8, 1, 16, 8, 0.25, 0.5, 16, 1, and 2 mg/L, respectively^[1].
Oximonam lacks effective activity against 31 strains of Staphylococcus aureus and the 232 strains of S. epidermidis described in the text, with MICs all ≥128 mg/L; Oximonam also lacks effective activity against P. aeruginosa, requiring ≥128 mg/L to inhibit the strains^[1].
