PDGF-BB
null PDGF-BB, the homodimer of the PDGF-B chain, is the most potent and broadly acting isoform of the family because it activates both PDGFR-alpha and PDGFR-beta. Secreted by platelets, endothelial cells, and macrophages, it is the principal pericyte-recruiting factor in angiogenesis and stabilizes nascent vessels, while also driving smooth-muscle cell migration in wound repair, atherosclerosis, and fibrosis. PDGF-BB is a standard mitogen for fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells, and vascular cells in culture and a common supplement in serum-free media. Recombinant human PDGF-BB is widely used in regeneration, tumor-stroma, and receptor-kinase inhibitor research.
