mGlu2/mGlu3 receptors refer to the metabolite glutamate receptor subtypes 2 and 3, belonging to the Gi/o protein-coupled subfamily within the G protein-coupled receptor family. They are mainly distributed on the presynaptic membrane as autoreceptors, providing negative feedback to inhibit glutamate release, and also on the postsynaptic membrane, regulating neuronal excitability. They are targets for the development of antipsychotic and anti-anxiety drugs.
