Sulbenicillin disodium
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Sulbenicillin disodium is a semisynthetic α-sulfonylbenzylpenicillin antibiotic. Sulbenicillin disodium exerts antibacterial activity against multiple gram-negative rods. Sulbenicillin disodium inhibits primary and secondary platelet aggregation, serotonin release from platelets, and platelet adherence via platelet surface coating. Sulbenicillin disodium can be used for the research of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas maltophilia, and Pseudomonas cepacia infections.

Sulbenicillin disodium (50-200 μg/mL) binds to human albumin in vitro with an approximate 70% bound fraction in the clinically relevant concentration range of 50 to 200 μg/mL[1].
Sulbenicillin disodium demonstrates in vitro antibacterial activity against clinical isolates of Proteus mirabilis (95% of strains have MIC50 ≤6 μg/mL) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (90% of strains have MIC50 <20 μg/mL)[1].
Sulbenicillin disodium (0.2-25 mM) inhibits ADP-, epinephrine-, and collagen-induced aggregation of human platelets in vitro, with a minimum effective concentration of 5 mM for inhibiting secondary ADP-induced aggregation and collagen-induced maximal aggregability[3].
Sulbenicillin disodium (5-25 mM) inhibits [14C]-serotonin release from human platelets in vitro at 25 mM, with minimal effect at 5 mM[3].

It is recommended to prepare fresh solutions and use them promptly within a short period of time.
The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.
