Verticilatin
Verticilatin is a prenylated diaryl ether derived from phytopathogenic fungi, acting as an antibacterial agent and biofilm inhibitor. Verticilatin exhibits no direct growth inhibitory activity against Gram-negative bacteria. Verticilatin effectively inhibits the growth of Gram-positive strains, including methicillin-sensitive/resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis, and reduces the biofilm-forming ability of Gram-negative Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. Verticilatin can be used for infections caused by the aforementioned Gram-positive bacteria and biofilm infections caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia.

Biological Activity
Verticilatin (4 mg/L) does not inhibit growth of Gram-negative bacteria, reduces biofilm formation in two Stenotrophomonas maltophilia strains by up to 63%, and potently inhibits growth of Gram-positive MSSA, MRSA, and Enterococcus faecalis strains with an MIC of 4 mg/L[1].
Verticilatin (2a) (4 mg/L; 24 h) potently inhibits the growth of MSSA ATCC25923, MRSA GK2235, MRSA USA300, and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC29212 with an MIC of 4 mg/L for all tested strains[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
