Lysipressin (Lysine vasopressin ; [Lys8]-Vasopressin ) is a neurohypophyseal nonapeptide with dual cardiovascular regulatory activities of peripheral pressor action and central hypotensive action, and it also regulates pain perception in the body. Lysipressin is an Oxytocin Receptor agonist, with a Ki value of 10.2 nM for porcine OT receptor. Lysipressin stimulates contraction of rabbit bladder smooth muscle via V1-vasopressin receptor. The central hypotensive effect of Lysipressin depends on the sympathetic tone pathway. Lysipressin dose-dependently prolongs tail-flick latency in rats, producing a stable central antinociceptive effect. Lysipressin can be used in studies related to cardiovascular regulation, hypertension and pain.

Biological Activity
Lysipressin (LVP) enhances the contractile capacity of uterine muscle strips from luteal-phase and prepartum pigs in a dose-dependent manner by activating oxytocin receptors, with EC50 values of 0.392 μM and 0.223 μM, respectively; it also increases intracellular Ca2+ concentrations in prepartum porcine uterine myocytes, with an EC50 of 28.2 nM[1].
Lysipressin dose-dependently displaces [3H]oxytocin binding sites on myometrial membranes of luteal-phase pigs, with a Ki value of 10.2 nM, indicating its high affinity for oxytocin receptors[1].
Lysipressin (LVP) stimulates the contraction of bladder smooth muscle from male New Zealand white rabbits in vitro, with a mean pD2 value of 8.4[2].

Lysipressin (150-500 ng; intracerebroventricular injection; single administration) produces significant, dose-dependent analgesic effects in the radiant heat tail-flick test[4].
