Chondroitin sulfate sodium (from shark cartilage), one of five classes of glycosaminoglycans, has been widely used in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Chondroitin sulfate reduces inflammation mediators and the apoptotic process and is able to reduce protein production of inflammatory cytokines, iNOS and MMPs.

Gum Arabic is an orally active complex branched polysaccharide. Gum Arabic can be isolated from the Acacia senegal tree. Gum Arabic upregulates the expression of maturation markers (CD86, CD40, and CD54), promotes ERK1/2 phosphorylation, and inhibits Apoptosis. Gum Arabic exhibits antimalarial effects against Plasmodium berghei ANKA. Gum Arabic exhibits hepatoprotective, renal, and cardiovascular protective activities. Gum Arabic improves obesity. Gum Arabic is commonly used as a stabilizer and thickener. Gum Arabic can be used in the research of brain tumor imaging.

Nystose is a tetrasaccharide with two fructose molecules linked via beta (1→2) bonds to the fructosyl moiety of sucrose. Nystose exhibits prebiotic, immunomodulatory, and metabolism regulating activities. Nystose promotes the bone mineralization by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Lacto-N-tetraose is the significant core structure of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) naturally existing in human milk. Lacto-N-tetraose is consist of galactose, N-acetylglucosamine, and glucose moieties. Lacto-N-tetraose has prebiotic effect, immune regulatory effect, anti-inflammatory effects, intestinal cell responses regulatory effect, antibacterial activity and antiviral activity. Lacto-N-tetraose has been widely added to infant formula.

Alginic acid is a natural polysaccharide, which has been widely concerned and applied due to its excellent water solubility, film formation, biodegradability and biocompatibility. Alginic acid induces oxidative stress-mediated hormone secretion disorder, apoptosis and autophagy in mouse granulosa cells and ovaries. Alginic acid has an inhibitory effect on histamine release. Anti-anaphylactic and anti-inflammatory properties.

D-(+)-Cellobiose is a water-soluble disaccharide and an important intermediate product in the degradation process of cellulose and hemicellulose. D-(+)-cellobiose is used as a carbon source by microorganisms in fermentation processes, where it is converted into ethanol or other metabolic products. D-(+)-Cellobiose has significant application value in biofuel production, such as bioethanol.

Lacto-N-neotetraose (LNnT) is an endogenous metabolite. Lacto-N-neotetraose can inhibit TNF-α induced IL-8 secretion in immature epithelial cells. Lacto-N-neotetraose has anti-inflammatory avtivity, and can improve the wound closure.

Chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) is an oligomer of β-(1→4)-linked D-glucosamine. Chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) activates AMPK and inhibits inflammatory signaling pathways including NF-κB and MAPK pathways.

1,1,1,1-Kestohexaose (1,1,1,1-Kestohexose) is an insulin-type fructooligosaccharide hexasaccharide. 1,1,1,1-Kestohexaose exhibits neuroprotective and anti-depressant-like activities. 1,1,1,1-Kestohexaose can alleviate Corticosteron (HY-B1618)-induced decrease in cell viability and NGF expression in vitro.

Xylan represents the main hemicellulose component in the secondary plant cell walls of flowering plants. Xylan is a polysaccharide made from units of xylose and contains predominantly β-D-xylose units linked as in cellulose.

2'-Fucosyllactose (2'-FL) is an oligosaccharide that could be derived from human milk. 2'-Fucosyllactose regulates the expression of CD14, alleviates colitis and regulates the gut microbiome. 2'-Fucosyllactose stimulates T cells to increase IFN-γ production and decreases IL-6, IL-17, and TNF-α production of cytokines.

Maltotriose is a maltooligosaccharide and a specific inducer of the Escherichia coli maltose operon. The oligosaccharide structure of Maltotriose acts as a highly efficient drug delivery carrier, which significantly enhances the targeting ability and water solubility of photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy for pancreatic cancer.

Maltopentaose is the shortest chain oligosaccharide. Maltopentaose is a substrate for α-amylases. Maltopentaose can be classified as maltodextrin and is also used in a study to investigate glycation and phosphorylation of α-lactalbumin. Maltopentaose is used to study the inhibition kinetics of human pancreatic α-amylase by dehydrodieugenol B.

Raffinose (Melitose) regulates intestinal flora, inhibits TLR4-MyD88-NF-κB signaling pathway, and activates Nrf2 signaling pathway. Raffinose exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory activities. Raffinose is orally active.

α-Cyclodextrin (α-CD) is a soluble fiber derived from corn. α-Cyclodextrin can deplete sphingolipids and phospholipids from cell membranes. α-Cyclodextrin interacts with tubulin. α-Cyclodextrin improves defenses against SARS-CoV-2 infection. α-Cyclodextrin enhances the anticancer efficacy of Crcumin (HY-N0005) against breast, lung and cervical cancer. α-Cyclodextrin has beneficial effects on body weight and blood lipids.

Maltohexaose (Amylohexaose) is a linear oligosaccharide containing 6 glucose units, which can be produced from amylose, amylopectin, and whole starch. Maltohexaose can inhibit the proliferation of P-815 cells.

Xylobiose (1,4-β-D-Xylobiose; 1,4-D-Xylobiose) is an orally active Claudin 2/CLDN2 inhibitor and HSP27 inducer. Xylobiose works by regulating intestinal barrier function and glucose and lipid metabolism-related signaling pathways. Xylobiose inhibits CLDN2 expression to reduce intestinal permeability, induces HSP27 to enhance cell protection, and regulates the miR-122a/miR-33a axis to inhibit liver lipid synthesis and improve insulin resistance. Xylobiose can strengthen intestinal barrier integrity, reduce blood sugar and blood lipid levels, and reduce oxidative stress and inflammatory response. Xylobiose can be used in the study of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

γ-Cyclodextrin is an orally active cyclic oligosaccharide composed of eight glucose molecules, which can be formed by bacteria digesting starch. γ-Cyclodextrin can form water-soluble inclusion complexes with a variety of poorly soluble compounds and is widely used in fields such as pharmacy and food. In addition, γ-Cyclodextrin has good safety.

Polygalacturonic acid (Galacturonic acid polymer) is transparent colloid, is a major component of the cell wall. Polygalacturonic acid can be used to prepare silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that protect cells from destructive effect of elevated ROS and accelerate wound healing. Polygalacturonic acid nanoparticles also displays anti-bacterial activity.
