Nithiazide
Nithiazide is an anti-histomonad agent with activity against Histomonas. Nithiazide does not cause macroscopic or histopathological abnormalities in the visceral organs of turkeys and chickens at specified doses and durations. Nithiazide induces tumor formation in multiple organs of rodents. Nithiazide can be used in research related to enterohepatitis and tumors, such as breast tumors, skin fibroadenomas, cystadenomas, liver tumors, etc.

Nithiazide exhibits genotoxic activity, testing positive in both the Ames Salmonella mutagenesis assay and the Chinese hamster ovary cell chromosomal abnormality assay[2].

Nithiazide (added to feed at 0.05-0.2%; administered via ad libitum oral feeding for 21 days) exerts no significant adverse effects on the growth of turkeys[1].
Nithiazide (added to feed at a ratio of 0.0062-0.4% and administered via ad libitum oral feeding for 21 days) has a safe feeding window (≤0.05%); dose-dependent growth inhibition occurs beyond this threshold, but no lethal toxicity is observed[1].
Nithiazide (added to feed at a proportion of 0.0125-0.1%, administered via ad libitum oral feeding for 11-27 weeks) exerts no effect on the growth or feed conversion rate of turkeys at a treatment-related dietary level (≤0.1%) with long-term feeding[1].

Nithiazide (added to feed at a proportion of 0.05-0.28%, administered via ad libitum oral feeding for 14-19 weeks) has far weaker egg-suppressive toxicity than ANT/ACT; White Leghorn hens are more sensitive to nitrothiazole toxicity[1].
Nithiazide (feed) exhibits in vivo carcinogenic activity in rodents, and induces tumorigenesis in three distinct organs of male and female rats and mice[2].
