Diltiazem is a calcium antagonist and an L-type calcium channel inhibitor. Diltiazem inhibits Ca2+ mobilization/influx, norepinephrine-induced contraction, and depolarization. Diltiazem produces coronary vasodilation and renal vasodilation; it inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron and increases urine flow, sodium and potassium excretion, Inulin (HY-N7075) and PAH clearance, and free water clearance. Diltiazem is used in research on cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and inflammation.
