補体系は、自然免疫の主要な構成要素であり、可溶性血漿タンパク質と膜上に発現する受容体および制御因子からなるカスケード反応系です。補体系は血漿中、組織中、細胞表面上、さらには細胞内でも機能します。補体系は宿主の恒常性維持、炎症反応、および病原体に対する防御において中心的な役割を担っています。補体系の活性化は主に3つの経路を介して行われます:古典経路(CP)、レクチン経路(LP)、および第二経路(AP)です。これらの経路は活性化の開始に異なる分子を必要としますが、最終的に同じエフェクター分子を産生します:アナフィラトキシン(C4a/C3a/C5a)、膜侵襲複合体(MAC)、およびオプソニン(例:C3b)です。補体系は病原体に対する防御と宿主の恒常性維持において重要な機能を果たしています。 Complement system, a major part of the innate immunity, is a cascade of soluble plasma proteins and membrane expressed receptors and regulators. Complement system operates in plasma, in tissues, on cell surface, and even within the cell. Complement system plays a key role in host homeostasis, inflammation, and in the defense against pathogens. Complement system can be activated through three main pathways: the classical pathway (CP), the lectin pathway (LP), and the alternative pathway (AP). These pathways depend on different molecules for their initiation, but they converge to generate the same set of terminal effector molecules: anaphylatoxins (C4a/C3a/C5a), the membrane attack complex (MAC), and opsonins (e.g., C3b). Complement system plays a key role in defense against pathogens and in host homeostasis.
