Kanchanamycin A is a 36-membered polyol macrolide antibiotic found in Streptomyces olivaceus Tü 4018, with high activity against Pseudomonas fluorescens, weak activity against Gram-positive bacteria and filamentous fungi, and no activity against yeasts. Kanchanamycin A inhibits growth of Pseudomonas fluorescens, Botrytis cinerea, Mucor miehei, Penicillium notatum, and Staphylococcus aureus. Kanchanamycin A is commonly used in the study of bacterial infections.

Description

Kanchanamycin A is a 36-membered polyol macrolide antibiotic found in Streptomyces olivaceus Tü 4018, with high activity against Pseudomonas fluorescens, weak activity against Gram-positive bacteria and filamentous fungi, and no activity against yeasts. Kanchanamycin A inhibits growth of Pseudomonas fluorescens, Botrytis cinerea, Mucor miehei, Penicillium notatum, and Staphylococcus aureus. In Vitro

Kanchanamycin A (1 mg/mL; 24 h) inhibits Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 13525b, Mucor miehei Tü 284, and Penicillium notatum Tü 136, with inhibition zones of 17 mm, 9 mm, and 18 mm respectively[1].
Kanchanamycin A (24-48 h) inhibits bacterial and fungal growth with MIC values of 3 μg/mL for Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC 13525, 30 μg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 11632 and Penicillium notatum Tü 136, and 100 μg/mL for Aspergillus viridinutans CBS 12754[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
