Biological Activity
Description
In Vivo
KX1-141 (delivered to the cochlea; administered before exposure) is essentially ineffective in preventing NIHL in chinchillas after impulse noise exposure[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
-
Animal Model:Chinchillas[1]
-
Dosage:50 µM (10 µL) in ≤0.5% DMSO/PBS
-
Administration:topical (round window membrane/niche); single application; 30 minutes before impulse noise
-
Result:Showed no significant reduction in impulse-noise-induced threshold shift relative to vehicle controls; there was a trend toward lower threshold shift, and showed the lowest mean permanent threshold shift at 0.5-2 kHz.
OHC loss was not significantly different from controls, and mean OHC loss was greater than in controls in sections of the middle cochlear turn.
