In Vitro

Carminic acid (10-20 μM; 24 h) can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors, ROS, MDA, and H2O2 and increase the activity of SOD in Fructose (HY-N0395)-treated TCMK-1 and HK2 cells. The mechanism involves the inhibition of NF-κB and JNK and the activation of Nrf-2[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Real Time qPCR[1]

Cell Line: TCMK-1 and HK2 cells treated Fructose (HY-N0395)
Concentration: 10 and 20 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h
Result: Markedly reduced the expression of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-4, IL-18, TNF-α, TGF-β1, MCP-1, TIMP-1, MIP-1α and CXCL1.
In Vivo

Carminic acid (0.75-1.5 g/kg; dietary administration; 16 weeks) has an improving effect in a mouse model of kidney injury[1].
Carminic acid (0.1-100 mM) has a deterrent effect on ant feeding[2].
Carminic acid (500-3000 mg/kg; oral gavage) can cause hyperactivity-like behaviors in rats at high doses (1500 and 3000 mg/kg), while the low dose (500 mg/kg) has no negative effects on the locomotor activity and anxiety behaviors of rats[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Male C57BL/6 mice aged 6-7 weeks old (18-20 g) treated Fructose (HY-N0395)[1]
Dosage: 0.75 and 1.5 g/kg/day
Administration: Dietary administration; 16 weeks
Result: Alleviated metabolic disorders.
Reduced body weight, blood glucose, blood lipid and insulin levels.
Improved glucose tolerance and insulin resistance.
Relieved renal dysfunction, mitigated glomerular hypertrophy and renal fibrosis.
Inhibited renal inflammation and oxidative stress, and enhanced the activation level of AMPKα.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
