Psora-4 (5-(4-Phenylbutoxy) psoralen) is a selective Kv1.3 blocker (Kd = 3 nM). Psora-4 increases mitochondrial ROS production, activates stress response genes including daf-16 targets and heat shock proteins, reduces triglyceride accumulation, extends lifespan and healthspan in C. elegans, and increases resistance to Paraquat-induced oxidative stress. Psora-4 can be used for research on psoriasis and obesity.

Inhibition of Kv1.3 by Psora-4 (1 µM; 0-36 h) does not alter the proliferation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes, indicating that the role of Kv1.3 in cell cycle progression is independent of plasma membrane channel flux[3].
Psora-4 (100 μM; 2 days) increases mitochondrial ROS production in wild-type N2 C. elegans after 2 days of treatment[4].
Psora-4 (100 μM) extends the healthspan of wild-type N2 Caenorhabditis elegans, and treated animals spend a greater proportion of their lifespan in optimal health[4].
Psora-4 (100 μM) fails to further extend the lifespan of wild-type N2 C. elegans under caloric restriction conditions, indicating that it acts as a caloric restriction mimetic[4].
Psora-4 (100 μM; 2 days) reduces total triglyceride accumulation, particularly TAG containing long-chain fatty acyl groups, in wild-type N2 C. elegans[4].
