Pyrantel (10-30 mg of base/kg; administered orally via gastric tube; single dose) exhibits highly effective and stable anthelmintic activity against equine gastrointestinal nematodes (with a 100% clearance rate for immature Parascaris equorum, 99-100% for Strongylus vulgaris, and 92-95% for small strongyles), while its anthelmintic efficacy against Strongylus edentatus and immature Oxyuris equi varies^[3].
