Cat. No.: HY-P5623 Purity: 99.81%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

RVG (RVG29) is a blood-brain barrier-permeable peptide derived from rabies virus glycoprotein, which binds to the α-7 subunit of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AchR). RVG efficiently delivers drugs to nerve cells and antigen-presenting cells in a targeted manner, and enhances the efficiency of antigen presentation and drug delivery.

Description

RVG (RVG29) is a blood-brain barrier-permeable peptide derived from rabies virus glycoprotein, which binds to the α-7 subunit of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AchR). RVG efficiently delivers drugs to nerve cells and antigen-presenting cells in a targeted manner, and enhances the efficiency of antigen presentation and drug delivery[1][2].

In Vitro

RVG (500 ng/mL; 4 h) induces a basal level of IL-2 response in co-cultured BB7-T cell hybridomas with mouse bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs)[1].
RVG (1 μg/mL; 4 h) induces a non-specific, MG132-independent basal IL-2 response in co-cultured F9A6-T cell hybridomas in human THP-1-derived macrophages[1].
At concentrations of 0.5-5.0 μg/mL for 4 h, RVG slightly increases the proportion of IL-12-secreting cells in mouse bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) compared with the unstimulated control group, but causes no dose-dependent enhancement of IL-12 secretion[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

RVG (10 µg; s.c./i.n.; three doses at 14-day intervals) does not significantly enhance 85B241-specific Th1 immune responses or humoral responses via subcutaneous or intranasal routes in naive mice[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: C57BL/6 (6-week-old female)[1]
Dosage: 10 µg (s.c.); 10 µg (i.n.)
Administration: s.c.; three doses at 14-day intervals; i.n.; three doses at 14-day intervals
Result: Exhibited 85B241 peptide-specific IFN-γ producing splenocyte counts not significantly different from counts in mice immunized with 85B241 alone via subcutaneous route.
Produced IFN-γ, IL-2, and TNF-α levels upon in vitro restimulation with 85B241 peptide not significantly different from levels in mice immunized with 85B241 alone.
Induced 85B241-specific IgG levels with no significant difference compared to mice immunized with 85B241 alone via subcutaneous route; induced no detectable 85B241-specific IgG via intranasal route.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
