  3. Phylloflavan

Phylloflavan is an antileishmanial (Antileishmanial) agent with an EC50 of 3.2 nM against intracellular amastigotes of Leishmania donovani. Phylloflavan is isolated from Phyllocldus plants. Phylloflavan induces moderate levels of NO release. Phylloflavan also inhibits the cytopathic effect of encephalomyocarditis virus on L929 fibroblasts (38 U/mL).

IC50 & Target[1]

Leishmania donovani

3.2 nM (EC50)

In Vitro

Phylloflavan (50 μg/mL and serial two-fold dilutions; 72 h) potently inhibits intracellular Leishmania donovani amastigote survival in RAW 264.7 cells with an EC50 of 3.2 nM, while lacking cytotoxicity against host cells and activity against extracellular promastigotes[1].
Phylloflavan (50 μg/mL; 48 h) induces moderate nitric oxide release from RAW 264.7 cells[1].
Phylloflavan (50 μg/mL; 48 h) induces IFN-like activity in RAW 264.7 cells, resulting in 38 U/mL of cytoprotective activity against EMCV-induced cytopathic effect on L929 fibroblasts[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
