Colchicoside
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Colchicoside is a monoglycosylated colchicine alkaloid glycoside with anti-leishmanial activity. Colchicoside can be obtained by specific glycosylation of Colchicine (HY-16569) by Astragalus vesicarius plant suspension cells, and is also found in Gloriosa superba seeds. Colchicoside can serve as a precursor for the synthesis of Thiocolchicoside (HY-N0301). Colchicoside can be used in research related to anti-leishmanial infection.

In Vitro
Colchicoside accumulates intracellularly in Astragalus vesicarius suspension cells after 14 days of biotransformation with Colchicine (HY-16569) as substrate[1].
Colchicoside is prepared by chemical semi-synthesis from 3-Demethylcolchicine (HY-W021267) and α-acetobromoglucose[2].
Colchicoside exhibits potent in vitro antileishmanial activity against Leishmania major promastigotes (IC50 = 0.22 µg/mL) and ex vivo activity against intracellular amastigotes (IC50 = 4.03 µg/mL, selectivity index = 18.33), along with iron-chelating and anti-inflammatory effects[3].
