α-Linolenic acid sodium (ALA; C18:3 (9Z,12Z,15Z); C18:3 n-3) is an essential fatty acid that cannot be synthesized by humans. α-Linolenic acid sodium can affect the process of thrombotic through the modulation of PI3K/Akt signaling. α-Linolenic acid sodium possess the anti-arrhythmic properties and is related to cardiovascular disease and cancer[1].

    In Vitro

α-Linolenic acid sodium converses into the longer chain fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

    In Vivo

α-Linolenic acid (50-250 mg/kg; i.v., for 10 days) sodium can completely inhibit collagen- and adrenaline-induced thrombosis in mice at 250 mg/kg[1].
    α-Linolenic acid (35-175 mg/kg; i.v., for 10 days) sodium suppresses A-V thrombus formation in rats (weighing at 250 ~ 300 g)[1].
α-Linolenic acid (70-175 mg/kg; i.v., for 10 days) sodium inhibits collagen stimulated platelet aggregation in rats[1].

    Help & FAQs
    • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
