Calcimycin hemicalcium salt  (Synonyms: A-23187 hemicalcium salt; Antibiotic A-23187 hemicalcium salt)

Cat. No.: HY-N6687A
Handling Instructions

Calcimycin hemicalcium salt (A-23187 hemicalcium salt) is an antibiotic and a unique divalent cation ionophore (like calcium and magnesium). Calcimycin hemicalcium salt induces Ca2+-dependent cell death by increasing intracellular calcium concentration. Calcimycin hemicalcium salt inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria and some fungi. Calcimycin hemicalcium salt also inhibits the activity of ATPase and uncouples oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) of mammalian cells. Calcimycin hemicalcium salt induces apoptosis.

Description

Calcimycin hemicalcium salt induces apoptosis[1][2][3][4].

In Vitro

Calcimycin hemicalcium salt (A-23187 calcium) mediates mycobacterial killing by inducing intracellular calcium-regulated autophagy in a P2RX7 dependent manner[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Calcimycin hemicalcium salt (A-23187 calcium) (2.5 or 7.5 nM; intrapleurally) induces protein leakage[5].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Mice (ICR, 25-30 g)[5]
Dosage: 2.5 or 7.5 nM
Administration: Intrapleurally
Result: Two hours after 2.5 nM, or 3 hours after 7.5 nM, challenge the protein levels in the pleural cavity were equivalent to about a half of their corresponding peak values.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
