  3. f-MKKFRW

f-MKKFRW is a selective mouse formyl peptide receptor 3 (Fpr3) activator and bacterial MgrB-derived peptide motif. f-MKKFRW activates Fpr3 to trigger downstream signaling and calcium responses in Fpr3-expressing cells. f-MKKFRW stimulates a subset of mouse vomeronasal sensory neurons in the accessory olfactory system to evoke calcium responses. f-MKKFRW drives innate avoidance behavior in mice via nasal contact.

Description

f-MKKFRW is a selective mouse formyl peptide receptor 3 (Fpr3) activator and bacterial MgrB-derived peptide motif. f-MKKFRW activates Fpr3 to trigger downstream signaling and calcium responses in Fpr3-expressing cells. f-MKKFRW stimulates a subset of mouse vomeronasal sensory neurons in the accessory olfactory system to evoke calcium responses. f-MKKFRW drives innate avoidance behavior in mice via nasal contact[1].

In Vivo

f-MKKFRW (50-100 μM; topical application to filter paper; single exposure) drives Fpr3-, Gao-, and Trpc2-dependent innate avoidance behavior in naive male mice[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: C57BL/6N (B6) mice (male, 8-14 weeks old); ΔFpr3-lacZ +/+ mice; cGao +/- mice; Trpc2 +/- mice[1]
Dosage: 50 μM; 100 μM
Administration: topical application to filter paper; single exposure
Result: Induced a mean avoidance index of -0.34 in B6 mice, indicating significant avoidance of the peptide-supplemented FEU compared to plain FEU. Showed absent avoidance in ΔFpr3-lacZ -/-, cGao -/-, and Trpc2 -/- mice.
Triggered avoidance behavior at the 50 μM dose.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
