Cefditoren is a broad-spectrum oral active cephalosporin that acts as a penicillin-binding protein (PBP) inhibitor. Cefditoren binds to specific PBPs in Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, thereby inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Cefditoren also reduces serum levels of the inflammatory biomarkers IL-6 and KL-6. Cefditoren can be used in research related to acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis-tonsillitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, respiratory tract infections, acute pyelonephritis, and enterococcal endocarditis.

Biological Activity
Cefditoren potently inhibits clinical isolates of S. pneumoniae (MIC90 0.5 μg/mL), β-haemolytic streptococci (MIC90 0.06 μg/mL), viridans group streptococci (MIC90 1 μg/mL), β-lactamase-negative H. influenzae (MIC90 0.03 μg/mL), β-lactamase-positive H. influenzae (MIC90 0.016 μg/mL), β-lactamase-negative M. catarrhalis (MIC90 0.06 μg/mL), and β-lactamase-positive M. catarrhalis (MIC90 0.5 μg/mL), with 100% susceptibility of all these groups at ≤1 μg/mL except viridans group streptococci (90.3% susceptible at ≤1 μg/mL)[1].
Cefditoren inhibits penicillin-susceptible S. pneumoniae (MIC90 0.015-0.03 μg/mL), penicillin-intermediate S. pneumoniae (MIC90 0.5 μg/mL), and penicillin-resistant S. pneumoniae (MIC90 0.5-2 μg/mL), with increasing MIC values corresponding to increased penicillin resistance[1].
Cefditoren potently inhibits C. perfringens (MIC90 1 μg/mL) and B. (P.) melaninogenicus (MIC90 4 μg/mL)[1].
Cefditoren exhibits potent in vitro activity against S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, non-ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae, and non-ESBL-producing E. coli, with the lowest MIC90 among tested cephalosporins for S. pneumoniae, but is inactive against ESBL- and carbapenemase-producing strains[3].
Cefditoren is stable against most common plasmidic beta-lactamases produced by H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis, retains activity against BLNAR H. influenzae, but is susceptible to hydrolysis by extended-spectrum beta-lactamases[3].
Cefditoren exhibits potent in vitro activity against multi-drug resistant S. pneumoniae, beta-lactamase-producing H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis, and S. pyogenes, with only 7% of PEN-R S. pneumoniae strains showing resistance[3].
Cefditoren exhibits potent in vitro activity against MSSA and 100% in vitro activity against S. pyogenes strains associated with SSTIs[3].

Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL DMSO stock solution (12.5 mg/mL) to 400 μL PEG300, and mix evenly; then add 50 μL Tween-80 and mix evenly; then add 450 μL Saline to adjust the volume to 1 mL.
Preparation of Saline: Dissolve 0.9 g sodium chloride in ddH₂O and dilute to 100 mL to obtain a clear Saline solution.
Add each solvent one by one: 10% DMSO 90% (20% SBE-β-CD in Saline)
Solubility: ≥ 1.25 mg/mL (2.47 mM); Clear solution
This protocol yields a clear solution of ≥ 1.25 mg/mL (saturation unknown).
Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL DMSO stock solution (12.5 mg/mL) to 900 μL 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline, and mix evenly.
