NFF-3 is a substrate that is rapidly hydrolyzed by MMP-3 in a continuous fluorescence assay^[1].
NFF-3 is hydrolyzed by MMP-3 with k_cat/K_m = 218,000 s^-1 M^-1, whereas MMP-1 and MMP-2 show no detectable hydrolysis, and MMP-9 exhibits much lower efficiency (10,100 s^-1 M^-1)^[2].
NFF-3 confers MMP-3-triggered degradability on chitosan microspheres (CNMS) in the bacterial infection microenvironment^[3].
