Manumycin A is a polyketide antibiotic and an inhibitor of thioredoxin reductase 1 (TrxR-1). Manumycin A can inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells and exert its anti-tumor activity through LC3. Manumycin A can downregulate the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human monocytes stimulated by TNF α, and has potential anti-inflammatory activity. Manumycin A can inhibit the Ras/Raf/ERK1/2 signaling and hnRNP H1 in castration resistant prostate cancer cells to suppress exosome biogenesis and secretion.

Prodigiosin (Prodigiosine) is a red pigment produced by bacteria as a bioactive secondary metabolite. Prodigiosin is a potent inhibitor of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. Prodigiosin has antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antimalarial, immunosuppressive, and anticancer properties.

Clofoctol is a bacteriostatic antibiotic. Clofoctol is used in the treatment of respiratory tract and ear, nose and throat infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria. Piericidin A is also a potential quorum-sensing inhibitor that suppresses the expression of the virulence genes of Erwinia carotovora subsp. atroseptica (Eca). Piericidin A is an ADC cytotoxin and has anti-bacterial, anticancer, insecticidal activity.

Phleomycin can induce cell apoptosis or mutation and is widely used in cancer inhibition, microbial genetic transformation (as a screening marker to improve fungal transformation efficiency) and DNA repair mechanism research.

Bryostatin 1 is a natural macrolide isolated from the bryozoan Bugula neritina and is a potent and central nervous system (CNS)-permeable PKC modulator. Bryostatin 1 binds to the isolated C1 domain of Munc13-1 and the full-length Munc13-1 protein with K_is of 8.07 nM and 0.45 nM, respectively. Bryostatin 1 has anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anti-HIV-1 infection properties.

Psammaplin A is a marine metabolite. Psammaplin A is a selective HDAC1 (IC₅₀: 45 nM), DNA methyltransferases (IC₅₀: 18.6 nM) and aminopeptidase N (APN) (IC₅₀: 18 μM) inhibitor. Psammaplin A also inhibits DNA topoisomerase and farnesyl protein transferase. Psammaplin A is a PPARγ activator and induces apoptosis. Psammaplin A has antitumor and anti-inflammatory activities. Bafilomycin C1 is a macrolide antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces sp. Bafilomycin C1 is a potent, specific and reversible inhibitor of vacuolar-type H⁺-ATPases (V-ATPases). Bafilomycin C1 inhibits growth of gram-positive bacteria and fungi. Bafilomycin C1 induces cell apoptosis and can be used for the study of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Nonactin is a macrotetrolide antibiotic and mitochondrial uncoupler with antibacterial, insecticidal, and acaricidal activities. Nonactin acts as an ionophore for monovalent cations, including K⁺, and NH₄⁺, and it can also inhibit the surface expression of endogenous HSP60. In addition, Nonactin can induce apoptosis in β-catenin mutant tumor cells and has anti-tumor activity.

Erythromycin thiocyanate is a macrolide antibiotic produced by actinomycete Streptomyces erythreus with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Erythromycin thiocyanate binds to bacterial 50S ribosomal subunits and inhibits RNA-dependent protein synthesis by blockage of transpeptidation and/or translocation reactions, without affecting synthesis of nucleic acid^[1][2]. Erythromycin thiocyanate also exhibits antitumor and neuroprotective effect in different fields of research^[3][4].

Caerulomycin A is an orally active immunomodulator and antimicrobial agent. Caerulomycin A targets Smad3, STAT1 and GATA-3. Caerulomycin A downregulates GATA-3 expression, inhibits Th2 cell differentiation and Th2 cytokine production, reduces IgE levels, and alleviates pulmonary inflammatory responses and eosinophil infiltration. Caerulomycin A ameliorates collagen-induced arthritis symptoms, reduces joint inflammation and synovitis, and decreases the levels of proinflammatory cytokines in joints. Caerulomycin A inhibits the growth of some filamentous fungi, yeasts and specific bacteria. Caerulomycin A can be used in research related to arthritis and asthma.

Reveromycin A inhibits bone resorption by inducing apoptosis specifically in osteoclasts. Reveromycin A has antiproliferative activity against tumor cell lines and antifungal activity.
