Flindersine
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Flindersine is an alkaloid with multiple activities including antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor, and antidiabetic properties. Flindersine increases the activity of antioxidant enzymes, restores the levels of renal biomarkers, and reduces blood glucose, blood lipid, and insulin levels in diabetic rats. Flindersine inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, drug-resistant bacteria, as well as dermatophytes, filamentous fungi, and yeasts. Flindersine reduces the viability of cancer cells and induces apoptosis. Flindersine can be used in research related to breast cancer, type 2 diabetes, bacterial infections, and fungal infections.

Biological Activity
Flindersine (50-200 μM; 24 h) reduces the viability of MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner (with stronger efficacy against MDA-MB-231 cells), but has no effect on the viability of HUVEC[1].
Flindersine (50-200 μM; 24 h) dose-dependently downregulates the protein expression of GLUT1, HK2 and LDHA in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells, with a stronger efficacy in MDA-MB-231 cells[1].
Flindersine (50-200 μM; 24 h) dose-dependently reduces LDHA enzyme activity, intracellular ATP production, glucose uptake, and lactate production in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast cancer cells, with greater potency in MDA-MB-231 cells[1].
Flindersine (50-200 μM; 24 h) dose-dependently induces apoptosis in human breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7, with stronger efficacy against MDA-MB-231 cells[1].
Flindersine (24 h) exhibits moderate in vitro antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, Gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and drug-resistant bacterium Acinetobacter baumannii, with MIC values ranging from 31.25 to 250 μg/mL, but shows no activity against most other tested Gram-negative bacteria and drug-resistant bacteria[2].
Flindersine (0-9 days) exhibits moderate in vitro antifungal activity against the dermatophytes Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton simii, Trichophyton rubrum 57, Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton rubrum 296, the filamentous fungus Magnaporthe grisea, and the yeast Candida albicans, with MIC values ranging from 62.5 to 250 μg/mL, but shows no activity against other tested fungi[2].
