Flavonoids

Galangin (Norizalpinin) is an agonist/antagonist of the arylhydrocarbon receptor. Galangin (Norizalpinin) also shows inhibition of CYP1A1 activity.

Diosmetin is a natural flavonoid which inhibits human CYP1A enzyme activity with an IC₅₀ of 40 μM in HepG2 cell.

Ononin is an orally active isoflavone. Ononin inhibits the ERK/JNK/p38 and PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathways. Ononin regulates Apoptosis. Ononin has anti-tumor effects on laryngeal cancer and lung cancer. Ononin has neuroprotective effects. Ononin alleviates endoplasmic reticulum stress and diabetic nephropathy.

Procyanidin C1 (PCC1), a natural polyphenol with oral activity, causes DNA damage, cell cycle arrest and induces apoptosis. Procyanidin C1 decreases the level of Bcl-2, but enhances BAX, caspase 3 and 9 expression in cancer cells. Procyanidin C1 shows senotherapeutic activity and increases lifespan in mice.

Pinocembrin ((+)-Pinocoembrin) is a flavonoid found in propolis, acts as a competitive inhibitor of histidine decarboxylase, and is an effective anti-allergic agent, with antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Orientin is a neuroprotective agentinhibits which has anti-inflammation, anti-oxidative, anti-tumor, and cardio protection properties. Orientin inhibits the levels of IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α. Orientin increases IL-10 level. Orientin exhibits neuroprotective effect by inhibits TLR4 and NF-kappa B signaling pathway. Orientin can used in study neuropathic pain.

(-)-Epicatechin gallate (Epicatechin gallate) inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) with an IC₅₀ of 7.5 μM. (-)-Epicatechin gallate is a GLUT1 and GLUT5 inhibitor. (-)-Epicatechin gallate decreases cell growth of GLUT5-expressing hxt⁰ yeast cells.

(-)-(S)-Equol is a high affinity ligand for estrogen receptor β with a K_i of 0.73 nM.

(-)-Epigallocatechin (Epigallocatechin) is the most abundant flavonoid in green tea, can bind to unfolded native polypeptides and prevent conversion to amyloid fibrils.

Hispidulin is a natural flavone with a broad spectrum of biological activities. Hispidulin is a Pim-1 inhibitor with an IC₅₀ of 2.71 μM.

Vitexin is a c-glycosylated flavone, and is found in various medicinal plants species such as Trigonella foenum-graecum Linn. Vitexin has a wide range of pharmacological effects, including anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-hyperalgesic, and neuroprotective effects.

Astragalin (Astragaline) a flavonoid with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, bacteriostatic activity. Astragalin inhibits cancer cells proliferation and migration, induces apoptosis. Astragalin is orally active and provides nerve and heart protection, and resistance against and osteoporosis.

Eriocitrin is a flavonoid isolated from lemons that is a powerful antioxidant. Eriocitrin inhibits the proliferation of liver cancer cells by arresting the cell cycle in the S phase by upregulating p53, cyclin A, cyclin D3 and CDK6. Eriocitrin triggers apoptosis by activating intrinsic signaling pathways involving mitochondria.

Theaflavin 3,3'-digallate (TF-3) is a potent Zika virus (ZIKV) protease inhibitor with an IC₅₀ of 2.3 μM. Theaflavin 3,3'-digallat directly binds to ZIKVpro (K_d=8.86 μM) and inhibits ZIKV replication. Theaflavin 3,3'-digallat inhibits the activity of gp41 and NS2B-3 protease and has antiviral activity against HSV and HIV-1. Theaflavin 3,3'-digallate, the typical pigment in black tea, is a potent antitumor agent.

Baohuoside I, a flavonoid isolated from Epimedium koreanum Nakai, acts as an inhibitor of CXCR4, downregulates CXCR4 expression, induces apoptosis and shows anti-tumor activity.

Schaftoside is a flavonoid found in a variety of Chinese herbal medicines, such as Eleusine indica. Schaftoside inhibits the expression of TLR4 and Myd88. Schaftoside also decreases Drp1 expression and phosphorylation, and reduces mitochondrial fission.

Morin is an orally active plant-derived flavonoid. Morin inhibits ROS generation. Morin induces Apoptosis. Morin inhibits PTP1B (IC₅₀ of 15 μM) and activates the insulin receptor. Morin has a detoxifying effect. Morin can be used in diabetes, leukemia, colon cancer, cervical cancer, Parkinson's disease and hypertension research.

Proanthocyanidin (Procyanidin) are a class of polyphenolic that are widely distributed in higher plants, consisted of an electrophilic flavanyl unit. Proanthocyanidin can be used as antioxidant and anti-cancers agent. Proanthocyanidin also exhibit anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can be used in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, capillary fragility, sunburn and retinopathy..

Farrerol is a bioactive constituent of Rhododendron, with broad activities such as anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, neuroprotective and hepatoprotective effects.

Isovitexin is a flavonoid isolated from passion flower, Cannabis and, and the palm, possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities; Isovitexin acts like a JNK1/2 inhibitor and inhibits the activation of NF-κB.
